Pet law for monkeys in United States

I just read an article about how some people think that Congress should change the laws about keeping monkeys as pets. A veterinarian named Loren John Williams of the United States of Human Society says there are over 15,000 of these animals in private homes. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, (D., Ore.), has introduced legislation in Congress to keep these animals out of private homes. Are we really going to make it illegal to own these animals out of private homes? Are we really going to make it illegal to own a pet monkey?

Will we jail and incarcerate the criminal for this? What is this county coming to?
I think it can’t be that bad to have one as a pet, and have read many articles that claim these animals make great pets.

Others claim that 100’s of children, young boys and girls, teenagers, and even adults, have been bitten by monkeys and chimpanzees. The worse part they say is that the animals are often the victims, and are abused by the owners in the first place. The owners buy these cute little monkeys when they are young and adorable, but when they get older, they aren’t as cute and loved.

When they are young, the owners take lots of pictures of them, but when they get older, the charm wears off. The owner dress the monkeys up in cute little outfits, or take the pictures of them without clothes on. Would that be considering pornography? Taking a picture of a nude or naked monkey? You know, without their clothes on? Interesting thought. Maybe that’s the new law they need to work on passing.

In any event, I have four young children at home, and wonder if buying a monkey for them is dangerous? Two are young boys, age 11 and 12. The other two are teenagers, one boy is13, the other is 16, and promises (they don’t always) to take care of this animal if we get it. P.S. he intended to go to the Navel Academy in Annapolis, MD two years. Think the Navy will let him take the monkey with him?

So, my question (yes there is a point to this), is: Are pet monkeys good pets for teenager boys? Are they legal to own in Annapolis.
Please respond and let me know.
